Session Footage

September 28th, 2005

Here is some (almost unedited) footage of the first days
meet-up/session of Vlogeurope! Topics discussed were based
around “An introduction of videoblogging” and “Language in
videoblogging”. This footage may seem a little disjointed,
think ofit as video snapshots, that you can use to either
reminisce or to get an idea of what it would have been
like to have been there.

VlogEurope 05 a success, and the road ahead

September 25th, 2005

VlogEurope 05, the meet-up of videobloggers from across Europe and beyond, was a terrific success. All those 25 or so who attended had a great time, and if you were not there you can take a look at some of the moviesover at the Vlogeurope tag at mefeedia.

I want to take the opportunity to thank everyone who attended and made this the great meet-up of European and American videobloggers that it was, and I especially want to thank Maximilian and Alexander Ward, Duncan Speakman for helping to organize this. It could not have been done without you.

Now we look ahead, and tonight at 21:00 GMT (22:00 CET) we we will meet for a real-time web conference where we will be discussing the future of VlogEurope the site, and what is going on around the vlogosphere in Europe.

Topics to consider:

* New european vloggers found
* Freevlog - European editions
* 3G cell phone networks in Europe - what then?

Please also bring along whatever thoughts you have about videoblogging in or outside Europe, and come to the conference room from 21.00 GMT tonight :)

Euroconference

As I’m sure, many of you will already know, every Sunday at 9:00 GMT throughout August there will be a European Videoblogger Videoconference.
These meetings are invaluable opportunities for discussing the up and coming VlogEurope! event in Amsterdam this September, as well as any other
videoblogging related topic with a European theme. Anyone who is interested in European Videoblogging is more than welcome to attend, and I urge
anyone who is planning to attend, or is just interested in Septembers meet-up in Amsterdam to join in the conversation.

If you missed the first conference last week you can see a replay here ,
or for more information about Videoblogging videoconferences go to voxmedia.org/wiki/Videoblogger_Videoconferences .

See you there…

Vlog Europe 1 whole week!

August 2nd, 2005

After a lot of chatting and e-mails back and forth, we have decided to make Vlog Europe a week in Amsterdam. So basically from the Sept. 10-17 we will be having a conference in Amsterdam. This is centered around two weekends.

On the weekend of the 10th we will be organising a forum with a lot of people coming to talk about video blogging. I have been talking with the folks of mefeedia.org, youtube.com, creative commons, FireANT, and more. During the week we’ve been talking about what we could do. Teaching newbies about what is video blogging for those who want to get in on it. And I’ve been playing around with the idea that every night we have a different focus of the different vlogging genres.

For instance a night for political vloggers, one for journalist to talk about better interview techniques. Animators vloggers can talk about animation techniques another night, so on and so forth. Then on the 17th we can all get together again for a big vlogger meet up and discuss what we have learned from eachother in the last week, and go away with new friends at a BBQ. Let me know what you guys think.

VlogEurope meet-up in September!

July 24th, 2005

Hey all,

Firstly, I must apologize for lack of posting lately. I have been on the road for some time, I still am, but am back in Bergen next week.

Now, our VlogEurope meet-up!

It seems like the weekend of September 16.-18. is what works best for us. The place we seem to have consensus for is Amsterdam. Any other bids?

Update: Seems like the weekend of September 9th-11th is what works for most of us. Yes, I agree, having this at the same time-span as IBC sounds excellent! We need to make a choice: the weekend of 9th-11th, or 16th-18th?

Settled: September 16th-18th it is. :)

What we basically need is:

1) A venue to meet at.
2) Accommodation, including friendly floor-space for those without a hotel/hostel budget.
3) A programme.
4) …?

I don’t expect us to be a zillion people, so any restaurant or pub would do. But the question is also: Do we only want to socialize? What about meeting at a ‘meeting room’ as well and having a few Short presentations? I could for instance talk about political vlogging in the Norwegian election campaign (we have our elections on September 12th), Duncan Speakman (UK) could talk about vlogging in mainstream media, and so on..

My suggestion is then this:

We meet saturday early afternoon in Amsterdam (or any other central city - must have cheap airfares to it from most of Europe). We meet at say 1 PM at a lunch-restaurant and have lunch together, introduce ourselves. Then we could go to a meeting-room or small conference hall and have a few sessions. I suggest 5 sessions, each lasting 15 minutes and with a 5 minute questions round afterwards. Each of these sessions should be broadcasted world-wide, for instance through a video conference such as the one they had at Vloggercue. This should be pretty easy to set up - we need a laptop with a webcam and an internet connection. This way we could also receive questions from other participants in the video conference, be they from New York, Honolulu or Sydney.

After our “formal” discussions we go for dinner after a break for everyone to do whatever they want to do, and after the dinner we should have a party, right? :)

Sunday morning we share a brunch, and then everyone get ready to take their flights/trains/buses/boats back to their home.

***

All of this is very open, but it is central that we get these things settled soon. Also, we need to ask ourselves: What do we want with this? Is this just a meet-up for those of us who know each other, or is this an open-for-all event? Do we want to invite some media scholars to hold a presentation? Do we want to invite the Media?

I think we should have a mailing list, in addition to this site (yes, I will fix the front page as soon as possible, sorry about that). Any suggestions as to what mailing system we should use? yahoogroups, just like the main videoblogging list?

Please add your comments/suggestions under, or write your own entries to this blog. Remember that anyone can register, and then post.

Let’s get VlogEurope rocking!

Hello Eurovloggers!

July 13th, 2005

This site is not born yet. Hardly conceived yet.

Anyone registering can post, and registering on this just takes a second. If I know you from the videoblogging group or elsewhere I will upgrade your account to level 9 so that you can also add links and make other changes on this blog.

I hope we can get a good collection of links to european videobloggers.

What would You like to see on this site?

Suggestions:
A review section where we introduce new European vloggers.
A resources section where we point to resources for new vloggers; things like Freevlog.
A travelling vlog section where we gather touristic vlogs of places such as Rome, Copenhagen, Bergen, London and Madrid. Here we can really Vlog Europe!
… add your own suggestions in a comment :)

Remember, this is Our site.
